OUR TOP 5 MASSAGE TOOLS

We would like to offer you a tool kit to use at home to help bring instant relief and comfort to your body, as well as staying proactive in feeling great! It comes down keeping your fascia healthy and happy, which requires more than just a monthly massage.

Here is a great 2 minute video on the wonders of fascia. A more in-depth 12 minute video HERE.

1. Backbuddy or Theracane - This tool is great for upper back + shoulder trigger point massage. If you sit on a coach you can lean back to make it easier to apply pressure. You can also use it on the pecs with the little nubs. Endless possibilities. Experiment! LINK VIDEO

2. Foam Ball - I love this ball for low back, hips, lats, and abdomen release. I don’t recommend rolling as much as melting in with your breath. The abdomen wants to be treated tenderly. Be gentle, kind, loving. Listen to your body. Do you feel release? This is the goal after all, isn’t it? Be patient. And use this as an opportunity to be curious about your body and what it has to tell you. LINK

3. Foam Roller - I like this little roller because it doesn’t take up as much space, travels well, and does the job! Great for all aspects of your legs: IT band, outer edge of your calves, adductors, quads, hammies. But also great for low back, biceps tendon, and forearms. Just remember… I feel it’s best not to roll. Stay in one spot and just melt in. You should feel a release, not a bad pain. LINK VIDEO

4. Lacrosse Ball - Great for bottom of the foot! Lay down and work around the head of your femur and all aspects of the glutes and sacrum. Experiment with it at various points on your body. Against a wall on shoulder blade. NOTE: It may feel too tender at times. Place a washcloth over it to soften a bit. LINK VIDEO

5. Cupping Set - Cupping an easy way to give yourself + your family care, keeping connective tissue open. Just make sure not to place them in obviously sensitive places with large veins, like the back of knees, neck, armpits, groin. Watch some YouTube videos to build confidence. LINK VIDEO

TIPS:

  1. Make sure to breath to stay present with how much pressure the body is asking for.

  2. As with everything trust your intuition. If it feels like too much… it is.

  3. Put on some good music, movie, or podcast and before you know it you will feel like you just stepped out of a massage.

  4. Search Youtube videos to see how it’s done, if you feel unsure how to use any of these tools.

  5. Once a week for 15-30 minutes is a great routine to start. Again trust your intuition. A little is better than nothing.

  6. If emotions arise… endure calmly, this too shall pass. Its good news that it’s releasing. Journal if you like to process emotions out.
